It's Not in My Blood, but It's in My Genes (An Anti-thesis)

Ever experienced being different from the rest of your family? or when your family has a common trait, and you are the only one who doesn't? It happens. It's normal. Not because of genetics, but because of "epigenetics."

In biology, and specifically genetics, epigenetics is the study of inherited changes in phenotype (appearance) or gene expression. I have read an article about what epigenetics really is. It is entitled,'"Epigenetics" Means What We Eat, How We Live and Love, Alters How We Behave," written by the Duke Medicine News and Communications. So, it basically is about how we live our life being genetic. That it is in our blood. Who we are now is how we are made genetically. This is an article which strongly supports how sexuality is not by choice.

The article "Study Concludes Epigenetic Cause of Homosexuality" is written by Ed Brayton. It includes a study about how epigenetics affect people's behavior and lifestyle.

"Specifically, the researchers discovered sex-specific epi-marks which, unlike most genetic switches, get passed down from father to daughter or mother to son. Most epi-marks don’t normally pass between generations and are essentially “erased.” Rice and Friberg say this explains why homosexuality appears to run in families, yet has no real genetic underpinning…," the study stated.

Many researchers are having a hard time knowing what the real cause of homosexuality is. However, they have come up with a discovery that epigenetics is the closest to being the cause.

However you put it up, insisting that choices make your life, some would still believe that they are what they are because they are made that way; that it wasn't their choice. Whatever the real cause may be, everyone should still be treated equally.
