Does everything really happen by choice? When winds blow north, is it someone's choice? The blinking of the eye, and regular breathing of the lungs, do these happen out of choices? These things are natural. You can't control it. Who you become in the future is who you really are back then. Your choices only work on your mannerism, how you express yourself.
I came across an article entitled, "Being gay is not a choice," written by James Hormel. This article is written out of the writer's experiences on how he wasn't able to control being gay despite the fact that he have chosen to be heterosexual.
"I spent the first 35 years of my life trying very hard not to be gay, to the extent that I married my college sweetheart and created a beautiful family of five children with her. Hard as I tried to make that life work, I could not escape my attraction to men. Choice had nothing to do with it," he said.
In this article, he also included researches on how a person can be gay since birth:
"Scientists from San Francisco to Stockholm are finding evidence of what gay people know in their hearts: that sexual orientation is innate. Recent research in Sweden has identified differences in brain structure that may determine whether a person is gay or straight."
It is true that there are things that are out of our control - and to sexuality is one of those. Whom you are attracted is not a result of your choice. You are attracted to someone because that person is of your interest; and these interests come naturally.
