"Hermaphrodite" is a term for an organism possessing both male and female genitalia. The term came from the name of the greek god, Hermaphroditus, the son of Hermes and Aphrodite (or Mercury and Venus in Roman). A nymph, named Salmacis, fell in love with Hermaphroditus, but he rejected her. She intertwined her arms around him and held him tight; the gods molded the two bodies together, never to part. Two sexes became one.
Some people are found to have this kind of condition, the hermaphroditism. However, experts prefer calling them intersexed, because they believe that "hermaphrodite" is a term used only to describe animals having both kinds of genitals. Many are saying that only few intersexed people seem to be homosexual, most of them are straight. A lot of questions arose from concerned citizens regarding this topic. An example of which is this: "How can an intersexual be straight if, in the first place, he or she or both (whatever) doesn't know his biological sexuality?"
Reading about intersexuality, I found an article on the net about intersexuals. It was entitled, Homosexuality and Intersex, written by Aly. The article was about intersexed people and their sexual preference. The writer mentioned this phrase: "...the very existence of homosexuality has shaped the treatment of intersexuals," which I think is very agreeable since most of the people are confused with the sexuality of an intersexual.
Ever since the world began, intersexuals have been misjudged about their sexuality. They are somehow affected by the discrimination of other groups of LGBT. Intersexuals are still people. They don't differ from us.
